Town Hope to Announce Season Ticket Compensation Plans Next Month
Thursday, 11th Feb 2021 16:22

Town say they hope to be able to announce details of compensation for this year’s season ticket holders next month.

Just under 9,000 fans opted to renew their season tickets for 2020/21 despite the pandemic meaning games at Portman Road have - aside from two matches with 2,000 attendances in December - been played behind closed doors.

Season ticket holders have instead had to watch the Blues on Follow Ipswich with the service having been provided to them without an additional charge.

A statement reads: “The club hopes to be in a position next month to announce compensation details for season ticket holders who purchased for the 2020/21 campaign.

“Town are waiting on information from the EFL regarding any support from the Premier League that the club may qualify for to cover some of the substantial financial losses during the pandemic.

“The Blues are also anticipating some guidance from the Government on when spectators may be allowed to return to watch live sport and any possible Covid restrictions that may have to be taken into consideration even into next season.

“Town have played all home games behind closed doors this term apart from vastly reduced attendances for the matches against Portsmouth and Burton in December.

“Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to outline a ‘road map’ out of lockdown, brought about by the surge in Covid-19 cases, on February 22nd.

“The club, like the vast majority of clubs in the EFL - certainly in League One - are waiting on the full facts before finalising compensation options for season ticket holders but will publicise them as soon as we are in a position to do so.

“The club would like to thank supporters for their continued patience and support on this matter.”

Asked about the situation with season ticket recompense for this year and next season’s plans, general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill told TWTD last week: “That’s being dealt with directly with [owner] Marcus [Evans]. Obviously with the current bail-outs and bits and bobs Marcus is going through all those areas.”

It seems likely that the Blues will offer season ticket holders the option of putting their refund towards a season ticket for 2021/22 and other options similar to those made regarding the games which weren't played at the end of 2019/20.

The only good thing from this lockdown is that i have not been able to go to Portman Road to watch the rubbish Lambert has served up.
I have had a season ticket for over 60 years and will not renew if he is still manager. Loyal Town supporters deserve better than this useless manager he should have been sacked weeks ago.

Not all clubs in lge1 will be in a position to offer any kind of compensation whatsoever so guess we have to be grateful for small mercy! I know......just trying to find something positive!😁

Over 50 years supporting Town and I have never felt so despondent this season over the way the club is run and the way Lambert is ruining this team with indecisive decisions and team selections.I shall be very interested to see what the club come up with regarding season ticket refunds.I very much doubt I will renew for next season if Lambert is still here. That decision is now in your hands Mr.Evans as I honestly think you will loose a lots of holders for next season.A very long hard think is required on your behalf.

The deal for last year was an honest one giving options for us to exercise if we wished.Hopefully that will be the case again. Evans has to give every incentive for people to even consider renewing and that includes who the manager is. To be fair, having lost money at my gym and for other things, the offer before was a fair one. For me it is not the money, it is the need for fans to be valued and get back that sense of belonging. That will only happen if Evans either instructs Lambert to change his mindset, unlikely, Lambert plays to the guys strengths and has an attack minded formation or ....simply resigns.

Lambert out, Evans out, O Neil out, Chambers out, Skuse out, Happy Clappers out, Positive posters out,I've possibly missed a few targets of the out brigade, oh I forgot don't dare admit to being a supporter or you will be told to get out also!!! 😂😂

I'm not sure there should be any compensation on offer. If you renewed at the start of the season then you knew full well that you'd be likely to attend a handful of games at best.
Therefore your renewal was in order to support the club.

As long as we are not offered a free season ticket for next season to watch Chambers take us down to non-league football. Let's face it - he is trying his best to take us down to league 2 this season!

What about last season's outstanding promise of 6 games haven't even had the opportunity to use the credits to use ifollow. Not that I'm missing much!

Save your breath/words. I've already cancelled this, as there is more logic in an answer from Boris Johnson than there is coming out of Portman Road.
ST Cancelled until there is considerable regime change.

well instead of offering compensation, sack lambert and use the compensation to pay him off! Think most fans would be happy with that and would renew, depending on who they got in of course1

Does this mean we will be paid to go to games!? under the current inept regime wild horses couldn't drag me even if that would be the case, i've done giving my pension to a club that handsomely rewards failures Lambert, his staff, senior so called pros(4 and sicknote 8) et al.

I have been an avid supporter since the mid 60's....and a season ticket holder for the passed 25 years and agree with lots of the above comments. It is really hard now and no fun being a Town fan, to see how far we have fallen is incredible. If the current management team are still in place I will not be renewing......very sad times.

Cornardblue - If I had a hat on I would take it off to you. Tremendous support, I dont blame you and have every sympathy. Over the years Ive only able to get to a handful of games each season......but wouldnt go even if we were able to......one word........Shambert. (Just talking about on the pitch issues here)

Lambert is gone

LAMBERT OUT

Surely it's very simple and shouldn't need much consideration. If you buy products or services that the suppliers are unable to provide you are entitled to a full refund or a replacement (ie next season free)
