Former Premier League manager tips Leeds for promotion and describes Bielsa as “a strange one”

Harry Redknapp is one of the most experienced managers in England, having managed a number of clubs up and down the country.

His greatest successes came at Portsmouth, where he guided them to the FA Cup in 2008, and Tottenham Hotspur, where he helped the club reach the Champions League for the first time in their history.

He is one of the most well-known faces in the country, and was even wanted by many to become the next manager of the England national team.

That never happened, and instead Redknapp decided to head for the jungle and appear on I’m A Celebrity get me out of here.

His last job in management was brief spell in charge of Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham City back in 2017.

Nowadays, Redknapp does a lot of punditry work, and one of his regular gigs is on talkSPORT. The radio talk show has today reported that during a speech last month in Leeds, the former manager described Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa as “a strange one.”

He said: “The manager is a strange one I can’t quite work him out. He’s supposed to be a genius and he probably is, his record is good, I’m not sure what will happen but I think they will get up. It is an open division.”

Redknapp also admitted that he was surprised when Leeds failed to achieve promotion last season. He was at the first leg of the Play-Off Semi Final last season, because Derby County are managed by his nephew, Frank Lampard.

Speaking about the game, he said: “I thought they’d get up last year. I went to watch the game in the semi-final of the play-offs at Derby and they murdered Derby. I found it amazing Derby turned the second leg around.”
