Derby County boss hoping for midfielder return by the end of the month

Derby County manager Frank Lampard is hopeful that injured midfielder Mason Mount will return to action by the time the club host Rotherham United at Pride Park at the end of the month according to reports by Derbyshire Live.

The 20-year-old Portsmouth-born midfielder pulled a hamstring during The Rams’ 1-0 Emirates FA Cup win at Sky Bet League One club Accrington Stanley in January and has been sidelined ever since.

Derby County are in a real battle for a play-off place in the Sky Bet Championship and it has been revealed that midfielder Mount will again be absent when Lampard’s side face Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City at Pride Park later this month. It is thought that the midfielder will be fit for selection by the time The Rams face Rotherham United on 30 March.

Following a successful loan spell at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, the Chelsea midfielder joined Derby County in July on a season-long loan deal. Mount has made 32 appearances in all competitions for The Rams in which he has scored six goals.

Mount’s good form for Derby County saw him rewarded with his first senior call-up to the England side for the UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain late last year. The player was not fielded by England boss Gareth Southgate, however, it was another step up for the youngster who has previously featured heavily for the Under-21s.
